The scorpion of the sea
General Attributes
The sea-scorpion appears in some medieval encyclopedias, and in at least one bestiary (Cambridge University Library, Kk.4.25). It is a fish that causes injury when it is picked up. It lays eggs in Spring and Autumn. If ten crabs are bound with a bundle of herbs and dropped in the water, all the nearby sea-scorpions will gather there.
